Bataan, Limón. Nearly 200 eighth-grade students from the Bataan Technical Professional School (CTP) participated in a Health Fair organized by the National University’s Infantes Health and Environment Program (ISA) from October 27 to 29, 2025. Over the course of three days, the initiative promoted opportunities for reflection and learning about mental health, education, and environmental health through dynamic and interactive activities.
The fair was developed by an interdisciplinary team composed of professionals from the fields of Psychology, Education, and Occupational and Environmental Health at INEINA, DER and IRET of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, who guided the students through various thematic stations designed to strengthen their knowledge and life skills. Through participatory exercises, the young people reflected on the importance of emotional well-being, support networks, and violence prevention. They also explored strategies to improve their study habits, strengthen attention and concentration, and set personal and academic goals. The activity also introduced students to the scientific work carried out by the ISA Program in the region, through demonstrations and informational materials related to research on health and the environment in the Matina canton.
In addition to promoting new learning opportunities, the Health Fair strengthened the bond between the National University and the educational community, fostering values such as participation, respect, and a commitment to individual and collective well-being. Through this initiative, the Infantes Health and Environment Program reaffirmed its commitment to the holistic education of future generations, promoting spaces that contribute to the development of healthier and better-informed communities.
