Research and Public Health Training for Scientists in Latin America
The collaborative project between the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, USA, and the ISA-IRET Program at the Universidad Nacional of Costa Rica, called "International Training In Environmental Health over the Lifespan," funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) (grant number 1D43TW011403-01A1), provides training and research fellowships to students and recent graduates in science, medicine, and related fields. The collaboration aims to expand training opportunities in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, among others. This initiative will promote scientific research and address health disparities in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The principal investigators for this project are Dr. Luz Claudio (Mount Sinai) and Dr. Berna van Wendel de Joode (UNA). Walter Ramos, MPH, and Keneth Masis, Lic. serve as project coordinators from Mount Sinai and UNA, respectively.
